Breaking down the tournament from the nation’s capital, we already know George Mason is done. We already know Georgetown is pretty damn good. And West Virginia sure got a great boost from its nearby fans as it knocked off Arizona in the Verizon Center last night.
Staying local, however, American University is the D.C. team I’m rooting for most, as it takes on No. 2 seed Tennessee in the first tipoff of Friday. Because rooting against the Eagles (c’mon, would American U. have any other nickname?) just seems, well, un-American. If you thought Vols coach Bruce Pearl had the market on crazy, you haven’t seen this Cloverfield-like video of the final moments of American’s pasting of Colgate in the Patriot League final.
The Eagles Are Literally America’s Team
