Chuck Esposito (official title: Assistant Vice President, Race and Sports Book Operations) is darting from person to person at Caesar’s Sportsbook, shaking hands like a Senator on the make and juggling real VIPs, schleppy bloggers (here!) and the varied complaints of the gambling public with inhuman composure. I got about 45 seconds with him before someone else grabbed him and complained about their VIP seating.

TSB: How’s the weekend going so far?
CE: Great. The crowds are fantastic, the energy is unreal, it’s just been a great environment.
TSB: What kind of capacity are you at?
CE: Full. We’ve got everything full out here and the March Madness party in the Poker room is full, too.
TSB: How do you think this compares to previous March Madness weekends in terms of volume?
CE: It’s comparable. It’s hard to tell from the first day, but given what we’re seeing it’s on par with previous weekends.
TSB: Can I get an over/under on the hours of sleep you’ll get this weekend?
CE: Uh ... not many.
TSB: Can I get an over/under of five.
CE: Sure. I’ll say five.
