Nothing quite like a surplus of Eggs Benedict and prime rib to really create a full on Sunday pile. (Note the lack of movement and lighting; couches and blankets may be involved.) It seems odd then that the NCAA would schedule an “early” game on Sunday and not Saturday, but it is what it is -- if that actually means anything.
Your early winner was the surprise Villanova Wildcats - the only Philly area team remaining, and the same Jay Wright coached squad that lost to NC State early in the season. Please note here that losing to the Wolfpack at any point in 2008 should automatically disqualify anyone from postseason play ... yet the Wildcats are locked into the Sweet 16. And locked in so easily that there was time to take pictures of babies and stuff in the crowd. Chiefly behind the advancement was Scottie Reynolds, who scored 25 with eight boards and five dimes. Siena had three scorers in double figures but shot only 35% from the floor.

Elsewhere, Texas leads Miami by 11 at half and Butler is mounting a comeback on Tennessee as intermission approaches. But the craziest story is that Davidson is only two points down to two seed Georgetown despite the fact that 40-point man Stephen Curry just scored his first bucket with about nine minutes to play, and just picked up his second foul. Also with two fouls and kicking it on the bench is Roy Hibbert, but JT-3 seems willing to let him ride it out as long as they have a lead. Understandable, certainly.↵
