WVU Wants You to Know the Big East Is Good

By Chris Mottram
WVU, and mostly star forward Joe Alexander, felt the need to use their postgame press conference on Saturday as an opportunity to tell the world how great the Big East is. You know, the same Big East whose best team lost to the Southern Conference champs, and whose fourth best team lost to the Sun Belt champs:

Other choice postgame comments from Alexander: “We don’t care that they’re Duke. That doesn’t mean anything to us,” and, “People are always hating on the Big East. I don’t understand why. We came in the fifth in the Big East and we manhandled a good ACC team.” “Manhandled” might be a bit strong seeing as Duke was winning the majority of the game, but clearly, Alexander has a penchant for hyperbole.
Better than anything Alexander said, however, was Cam Thoroughman’s response to being told by a member of the press that Greg Paulus was one of Duke’s McDonald’s All-Americans: “Oh my God. Are you kidding?”
(H/T to With Leather for reminding me that I saw this press conference in a haze late Saturday night.)↵
