Weekend Tube Review: Even Packer Is Impressed

By Brian Powell
Finally, we have some Cinderellas. After multiple blowouts by the chalk on Thursday, Friday through Sunday did not disappoint. Duke is gone, Georgetown is gone, Pittsburgh is gone, UConn is gone, and Clemson is gone. And my bracket is gone.

On a positive note, most of CBS’ announcing teams did a great job, and CBS’ decision to switch up some of last year’s teams seems to be working out. Jim Nantz and Billy Packer were a little bit more subdued than other teams (naturally), but their stats and information on players and teams was unsurpassed. Lundquist and Raftery are just about the wackiest team out there but, very fun to listen to. I was also very impressed Dick Enberg’s fill-in, Carter Blackburn.
CBS Announcing Teams for the Next Two Rounds:
Thursday:
Xavier vs. West Virginia (Phoenix, 7:10pm)- Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery
North Carolina vs. Washington St. (Charlotte, 7:27pm)- Dick Enberg and Jay Bilas
UCLA vs. Western Kentucky (Phoenix, 9:40pm)- Verne Lundquist and Raftery
Tennessee vs. Louisville (Charlotte, 9:57pm)- Dick Enberg and Jay Bilas
Friday:
Wisconsin vs. Davidson (Detroit, 7:10pm)- Gus Johnson and Len Elmore
Texas vs. Stanford (Houston, 7:27pm)- Jim Nantz and Billy Packer
Kansas vs. Villanova (Detroit, 9:40pm)- Gus Johnson and Len Elmore
Memphis vs. Michigan State (Houston, 9:57pm)- Jim Nantz and Billy Packer
(The Regional Finals will have the same announcers for Saturday and Sunday)
