FirstCuts: EA Mocks Draft; Ryan Gets Cover

You can’t ever have enough mock draft goodness -- (uneducated guesses for $1,000, Alex!) -- so EA Sports is getting in on the act with its NFL Head Coach 09 simulator. Now, it does seem a little disingenuous. They’ve correctly guessed the No. 1 pick ... you know, after it happened. Here’s EA’s full top five:↵↵⇥1. Dolphins: Jake Long↵⇥
↵⇥2. Rams: Glenn Dorsey↵⇥
↵⇥3. Falcons: Matt Ryan↵⇥
↵⇥4. Raiders: Chris Long↵⇥
↵⇥5. Chiefs: Sedrick Ellis↵↵Check out the full mock draft here. This is where I’d make fun of their picks, except I don’t see anyone with any sort of consensus after the already-announced No. 1 pick.↵↵The other big news announced yesterday on the NFL Head Coach 09 front is that although it was previously announced the game would only be offered as part of the Madden special edition pack, it turns out the game will be available as a solo release. The price? $49.99 on Sept. 2, available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Still, it will be out almost a month after the special Madden edition drops, so it’s hard for me to believe anyone will shell out the bucks to buy this by itself given the time table of the two releases.↵

↵↵Matt Ryan gets the PlayStation 3 cover for NCAA Football 09. Previously, Darren McFadden landed the Xbox 360 cover. In case you forgot, each console gets a different cover athlete. Sparty will be featured on the Nintendo Wii cover with the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable to come.↵
