If the Pats Are Perfect in ‘08, You’ll Be Able to Get Your Officially Licensed 19-0 Piggy Bank

The Patriots franchise filed for the trademark rights to both “19-0” and “19-0 The Perfect Season” back in January, before the Super Bowl. (Aside: You can trademark numbers? If so, I’d like the rights to “13” please. It’s just my favorite number, that’s all.) As you may have noticed, the Pats lost the Super Bowl, and finished 18-1. But that hasn’t stopped them from wanting to lockdown those damn “perfect” trademarks.↵↵As the Smoking Gun points out, lawyers from the team amended their original United States Patent and Trademark Office filings on April 11th, less than two weeks ago. This would imply that the team still intends on going after the trademarks, despite never completing the perfect season (I just like to remind Pats fans of that). Perhaps it’s wishful thinking for this year. Or perhaps they just refuse to believe that they lost to Eli and the Giants.↵

↵↵The best part of this, for me, is the list of various retail items for which the team would use the trademarks. It includes, but isn’t limited to: toy banks, board games relating to football (do those exist?), balloons, jigsaw puzzles and kites. Yes, 19-0 kites. The perfect gift for any real man.↵
