FirstCuts: Elliott Sadler Wishes To Destroy You And Your Friends in Halo

In the last installment of fun I milked from the NASCAR 09 party at Whisky River on Wednesday, I present Elliott Sadler. Some of these drivers play games, but Sadler really takes it seriously.

â†µâ†µTSB: If I just overheard your last interview correctly, you’re quite the gamer.â†µ

â†µâ†µElliott Sadler: That’s why I’m here. I’m not here for not knowing what’s going on. Whether I’m at the bus or my house, I’ve got games set up everywhere. We even have a setup on the bus so we can have eight people playing at one time. (In another interview, Sadler said the door is actually closed between the two teams of four to kill any chance of cheating.) Big gamer. Been involved with EA Sports since the beginning, trying to help with the NASCAR game to make it as realistic as we can. They’ve always come to the drivers for input, so it’s cool to be a part of that family.â†µ

â†µâ†µTSB: When you’re talking about eight people, I can only assume you’re talking about Halo?â†µ

â†µâ†µES: Halo is the game man. If I’m not in the sports deal playing EA ... if I’ve gotta go away from ‘em, I’ve gotta play Halo. When I’m in a sports mood, I’ve gotta do the racing thing. It’s so realistic and EA does such a good job of making it realistic that it’s fun to play, even for me.

â†µTSB: Do you keep a stockpile of the NASCAR 07 copy where you were on the cover?â†µ

â†µâ†µES: Of course you’ve got to do that, just to say “Oh by the way, I was on the ’07 cover.” (Ed. Note: At this point, Sadler shows he is the true NASCAR driver with skill on the track but also as a pitch man.) And also this year, if you buy NASCAR 09 from Best Buy, I’m also on the cover it’s two covers -- so not only do you get four-time NASCAR champ Jeff Gordon, you also get Best Buy driver Elliott Sadler, so it’s pretty cool.â†µ

â†µâ†µTSB: Now jumping back to Halo, exactly how good are you?â†µ

â†µâ†µES: I’m good man, I can mess you up.â†µ

â†µâ†µTSB: So you’re the meanest one out of the group?â†µ

â†µâ†µES: Meanest one, because I play it so much. I’m a gamer, and I can play. Tiger Woods, NCAA Football, the racing game, I can do it man.â†µ
