Quick, Run to the Papa: It’s 23 Cent Pizza Day!

Today is the day that Cleveland area Papa Johns stores make good on their 23 cent pizza promise. And, as you’d expect, people in the northeastern Ohio area are incredibly excited about the deal:↵↵⇥By 8:45 a.m., Clevelanders were lined up outside the Papa John’s Pizza in Chagrin Boulevard in Shaker Heights, over two hours before the scheduled opening.↵↵There are a total of 86 stores participating, making about 300 pies an hour. Lines were averaging around 90 minutes(!) each because the deal only applied to carry out. Oh, and one little snafu: They don’t expect to make it through dinner service:↵↵⇥Papa John’s stores will likely sell out by dinnertime, the chain says. And once they’re out of pizza, you’re out of luck. ↵⇥They’re not giving rain checks on the 23-cent deal. ↵⇥
↵⇥
↵⇥“We’re certainly a bit surprised about how darn popular this is,” said Tim North, vice president of the company’s northeast division. ↵↵What’s funny to me about this whole thing is that the amount of time wasted getting to the store, standing in line, and getting your pizza is worth way more than the normal cost of a large Papa Johns pie. Then again, if LeBron’s cheapness is any indication, people in the Cleveland area are some serious Frugal Fannies, who simply cannot deny themselves of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
↵
↵What I’m trying to say here people is that we’re talking about Papa Johns pizza. It really isn’t worth an hour and a half of your life.↵
