FirstCuts: Gamers Sue EA Over Football Games

The seemingly never ending deadline for EA to acquire Take-Two Interactive continues to get pushed -- making it seem more and more inevitable it’ll happen eventually -- but now they’ve got a few angry gamers to deal with.↵↵A class-action suit filed by two gamers in Washington, D.C., and California alleges “blatantly anticompetitive conduct” on the part of EA Sports, according to Gamespot.↵
↵↵⇥“This vigorous competition benefited consumers,” according to the suit. “Electronic Arts could have continued to compete by offering a lower price and/or a higher quality product. Instead, Electronic Arts quickly entered into a series of exclusive agreements with the only viable sports football associations in the United States: the National Football League, the Arena Football League, and NCAA Football.”↵↵
↵↵(Now in chant form) What do they want? Restitution and damages! Who do they want it for? Everyone who purchased an EA football game since August of 2005.↵
↵↵I think I’ve got a better chance of completing 100 percent of Grand Theft Auto IV than this being resolved in any way that favors the consumer.↵
