FirstCuts: Red Wings Get Stanley Cup Shoe

Reebok got into the NHL game this season, becoming the league’s official jersey maker. Things did not go well. Complaints about the jerseys led to a redesign that debuted in January. (I can only assume the first version of the jerseys are collecting dust in a closet with those short-lived NBA basketballs.)↵

↵↵To commemorate the Detroit Red Wings’ 11th Stanley Cup championship, Reebok, through RBKCustom.com, is selling a special version of their casual shoe called the League.↵

↵↵Sure, you could slap another team’s logo on there, but you’d also be a loser. OK, I’ll be honest, I’m not sure anyone wins buying these. They look sort of clunky, and I’m not sure championship footwear is the way to go. Between the Kevin Garnett adidas with the O’Brien Trophy and these shoes with the Stanley Cup, it seems like we can end the discussion once and for all: trophies on shoes are not a good look.↵
