Chad Johnson’s Bizarre Act Continues

The Chad Johnson minicamp experience: Injured, and then not injured. No love for Marvin Lewis, just business. Bizarre local news interview. Somewhere in the middle of this is my trip to Cincinnati late last week to, among other things, go to Taste of the NFL. Here’s a sampling of Chad on this particular night. ↵

↵And yes, that picture at the end is the only reaction I could summon at the end of my encounter with Ocho Cinco.↵

↵↵I was so shocked to even see Johnson show up to this event, given the way things had been going, that I had to get a picture as blogosphere proof he was willing to show his face with the fans. As it turns out, he wasn’t just willing to show his face; he was willing to hug my fat head like I was a long-lost friend. (Yes, his response to me saying “Excuse me, Chad ...” was to turn and grab me by the head and hug me.)↵

↵↵Dumbfounded is how I’d describe myself and my family. Jovial Chad was unexpected, particularly at this event where “aloof” would be the best way to describe his attitude the last two years, generally wearing shades and talking on his cell phone while signing autographs.↵

↵↵But not this time around, working the room, talking soccer while wearing the Carlsberg uni. Maybe it’s unfair of me to be so skeptical, but with puppet master Drew Rosenhaus still pulling the strings, you’ve got to wonder if the word wasn’t finally put out to do a little PR damage control. If it’s genuine, I’m the first to welcome reconciliation, but you just never know when things will heat up again. (And no, he’s not trying to yell at T.J. Houshmandzadeh in the clip; he was trying to steal his food.)↵

↵↵In other words, strange continues to stay strange.↵

↵↵Just as a quick aside: If your city hosts a Taste of the NFL event, check it out. It’s a worthwhile cause and honestly the food in Cincinnati was great. Plus, OPEN BAR, DUDE!↵
