Red Wings Don’t Follow Our Simple Instructions, Drop and Dent Stanley Cup

We are shocked – SHOCKED! – to learn that professional athletes, specifically the Red Wings players, don’t read this here blog. If they did, then surely this never would’ve happened over the weekend:↵↵⇥The Stanley Cup is OK after taking a tumble during the Detroit Red Wings’ celebrations. ↵⇥
↵⇥
↵⇥NHL spokeswoman Bernadette Mansur says Saturday the Cup got a slight dent Friday after some players took the trophy to Cheli’s Chili Bar, a downtown restaurant owned by Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios. ↵↵↵They dropped the damn Cup? Helllloooo. That was rule No. 4 on Thursday’s list of things not to do with Lord Stanley. And the fact that the Cup was at a bar with the players leads us to believe rules three and four were breached as well: Do not “touch thine lips upon thy Cup,” and do not “share with the public.” At least they didn’t use it to bath babies or fill it with candy, as far as we know.↵↵And in case you’re concerned for the Cup’s physical appearance after taking a tumble, it’s going to be just fine. They were able to smooth out the dent.↵
