Just How Bad Is Mike Tyson?

↵Man you have to hand it to Mike Tyson. In the world of boxing, where everyone is hustling, everyone is tough, everyone is straight-up bad to the bone baby, Tyson still managed to distinguish himself with a level of all-out criminality to rival almost any of the sport’s famously sweet but mad scientists of the past.↵↵The latest news in the endless revelations of Tyson’s nefariousness comes from a federal trial involving the Cash Money Brothers, a gang from Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn known for their dedication to the standard rigamarole of gang-like activities -- drugs, guns, mayhem, etc. ↵
↵
↵↵Tyson’s name has come up several times over the course of the trial with witnesses alleging that the fighter put up fifty large to have two men killed during a bloody era of Brooklyn gang warfare in the late 90’s that ensued after the killing of drug kingpin Myron “Wise” Hardy. Evidently Tyson was seeking revenge for the murder of one of his bodyguards, Darryl “Homicide” Baum, who was caught up in the Brooklyn turf wars. In 2000, Tyson dedicated his first-round KO of Lou Savarese to Baum’s memory.↵
↵↵Not surprisingly, Tyson has denied any involvement with or even knowledge of the gang in question. But it’s so difficult to believe a giant of his wrongdoing stature whenever he denies anything that resembles wrongdoing. At this point it’s safe to say that you could pin just about anything on the man and there would be at least a sliver of credibility in the mind’s eye of the public. Myself, I’m waiting for the “Tyson killed Nicole Simpson” story that can’t be too long in coming.↵
