This Was Inevitable: Favre May Be Coming Back

↵
↵It’s the 4:00-hour on the east coast and I was somewhere between unconscious and comatose from this slowest of slow sports days, when I started getting IMs that Favre is coming back. I didn’t want to believe it, because, well, we already put No. 4 out to pasture, but alas, ESPN’s Chris Mortenson (who else?) reports that Favre has some sort of football related itch: ↵↵⇥With his family “tugging” on him to play, Brett Favre has an “itch” to come out of retirement and report to training camp with the Green Bay Packers later this month, according to sources close to the team and player. ↵⇥↵⇥Favre has communicated his potential desire to coach Mike McCarthy but talks have not advanced to a substantive stage, a Packers source said. ↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥The source said the Packers would be reluctant to open the door for Favre because “Brett retired for the right reasons, even though I know his family is tugging on him [to play].” ↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥Another source conceded Favre was “getting the itch” to play football in 2008. ↵⇥

↵↵So there you have it: Favre apparently has an itch to participate in football this season, and he may or may not scratch it. And all this time stupid America thought it was gonna steal all the headlines on the 4th of July.
↵
↵More to come on this (whether you like it or not).↵
