Nobody Puts Erin Andrews in the Corner

This week, syndicated columnist Mike Nadel used his column ↵inches to destroy ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews ↵for her wardrobe and conduct at Wednesday’s Cubs-Brewers ↵game in Milwaukee. Nadel’s piece got a ton of play, and he ↵ended up discussing it on Deadspin.
↵
↵ESPN made an official retort, ↵telling EA to get on with her bad self and ignore the ↵haters (in slightly more eloquent words, of course). ↵Andrews herself has now responded, through a ↵conversation with Minneapolis Star-Tribune blogger ↵Michael Rand.↵↵⇥“If anything, I think these guys look at me ↵⇥like a little sister or one of the guys. ... I don’t look ↵⇥at myself as a sex object. I’ve never carried myself in ↵⇥that way. I’m a girl that loves sports. I’m a tomboy. ↵⇥That’s the last thing on my mind when I’m in the clubhouse ↵⇥— worrying about players checking me out.”↵↵That could be perfectly honest. And Andrews could be the ↵least self-aware person in the world. She has acknowledged ↵the attention she gets from 20-something male sports fans ↵in the past. Why shouldn’t she think these 20-something ↵male baseball players might act the same way? Of course, in ↵no universe is this as big a problem as Nadel makes it out ↵to be. Who cares if Lou Piniella hits on her, or she feels ↵up Alfonso Soriano? Maybe the voluntary moratorium on all things ↵EA should be spread to the traditional media.↵
