Yes, it’s a sad morning for lipfur lovers across this great nation: The LoHud Yankees Blog is reporting that Jason Giambi has finally shaved the mustache. As Peter Abraham at the LoHud speculates, the breaking out of the Bic is probably in response to Giambi’s .205 batting average since July 1. Clearly, somewhere along the way, the ‘stache lost its magical powers.

You may allow it to once again see the light of day in approximately 18 years, when it will be vintage chic. You can wear it with your black skinny jeans and Chuck Taylors.↵
↵↵For now, though, let us have a moment for the ‘stache. It was certainly fun while it lasted, but clearly, it had run its course and was way past time for us to return to disliking Giambi. ↵
