Live Television Is Fun, Just Ask ESPN

As you’ve surely noticed, ESPN’s been doing live commercials the last few weeks to promote the launch of live SportsCenter next Monday (how clever!). They feature Steve, a 25-year-old ESPN employee who seemed likeable enough until I discovered that he’s a Steelers fan. Now I hate him. Thus far, there’ve been no real flubs during the live spots, which, as you’ve already discovered because I’m sure you skipped ahead to the photo below, changed this morning.↵↵It seems one of Steve’s yinzer roommates decided to have a little fun with the ole’ whiteboard and write the f-bomb on it in some totally hip, urban block letter style. (Behind that smiley face lies the letter “U,” which we cannot show here because we aren’t all adults and someone may be offended by a word we all use in our everyday vernacular.) ↵

↵↵According to Deadspin, ESPN has acknowledged the gaff:↵

↵↵⇥ESPN confirmed that it was an unfortunate screw-up though they still don’t know exactly how it happened — but are looking into it. Right now, it doesn’t appear that Steve is in jeopardy of losing his job (or any of the crew) but it does make the premise of ESPN’s live SportsCenter morning show much more enticing.↵↵That would be a real bummer for Steve’s roommates if their whiteboarding got him fired. Mostly because it would mark the end to scoring with all of Steve’s leftover live commercial groupies.↵
