Earlier this week, it was announced that Mets closer Billy Wagner is going to undergo reconstructive elbow surgery. The operation is expected to keep him out for all of next season. He’s already 37, so there are obviously doubts that he’ll ever be an effective pitcher again -- or be able to pitch again, at all -- given how much he relies on his fastball. ↵

↵Wagner, however, is confident that he’ll be back, saying that “somewhere down the road, I’m going to help somebody win a championship.” Well, maybe he will, maybe he won’t, but between now and then, he’s just gonna be over here in the corner, crying about it:↵
