That’s Fancy Lawyer-Speak for ‘Duke Sucks’

You probably are familiar with the Louisville-Duke lawsuit, but just as a refresher, let’s review. Last year, Duke decided to pull out of an agreement they held with Louisville for the two schools to play four football games against each other. The first game was in ’02 (Duke lost 40-3) and the final three games were to be held last season, this season and next season. Louisville filed a lawsuit against Duke, claiming it couldn’t find a “team of similar stature” as the Blue Devils to play the remaining three games against. ↵

↵Duke’s lawyer had a fairly basic and accurate argument: Duke football sucks. I mean, you could pretty much throw the names of every other football program in the country in a hat, pick out three and they’d all be of similar -- or better -- stature than the Blue Devils. ↵

↵Marking the one and only victory of the season for Duke football, the judge ruled in favor of the Blue Devils back in June. But just released this week is video of what exactly Duke’s lawyer said to the judge to sway his opinion. It truly is some of the most outstanding, well-informed trash talking we’ve ever heard:↵
