The Real Reason Behind Hochuli’s ‘Mistake’

Ed Hochuli, the now infamous muscle-bound ref who blew the game for the Chargers on Sunday, wants everyone in San Diego to know he’s really sorry. So much so, that he is taking time to respond to every piece of hate mail he’s received. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, this is believed to be a real example of one such response to a fan from Hochuli:↵↵⇥I’m getting hundreds of emails – hate mail – but I’m responding to it all. People deserve a response.↵⇥↵⇥You can rest assured that nothing anyone can say can make me feel worse than I already feel about my mistake on the fumble play. You have no idea ... ↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥Affecting the outcome of a game is a devastating feeling. Officials strive for perfection – I failed miserably. Although it does no good to say it, I am very, very sorry. ↵⇥

↵↵Geez, that’s depressing. I guess this blabbing and begging for forgiveness is one way to own up to the mistake. The other way would be to just admit the truth: His muscles look better when he makes the incomplete pass signal. Hochuli knows this to be fact from hours of studying himself in front of a mirror, via AP:↵↵⇥In a recent interview, Hochuli said he practices announcing calls in front of a mirror so he’ll look official when he gives them for real on TV.↵↵What the AP article meant to say is that he practices so he’ll look official … as in “officially FREAKIN’ HUGE JUST LOOK AT THOSE LATS, BRO!!!11!” So yeah, that’s the real reason behind his “gaffe” on Sunday. What can ya say? The man fills out a zebra shirt nicely.↵
