In Tony Kornheiser’s World, Nothing Is More Important Than Brett Favre

↵
↵If you thought Week 1’s Monday Night Football game, featuring the Gunslinger-less Packers, was Brett Favre overkill from Tony Kornheiser (double check: yep, we thought it was), then you’ll just love what’s coming at you in three days. Tony K and the gang are covering the Jets-Chargers game on MNF, and Kornheiser will be damned if he isn’t gonna use the opportunity to talk about Favre every single chance he gets:↵↵⇥And this much we know: Kornheiser will not shy from talking about Favre. In fact, he did it so much in the “MNF” opener between the Vikings and the Favre-less Packers that “Tirico had to put a moratorium on me,” Kornheiser said. ↵⇥↵⇥But he makes no apologies. “It’s impossible to believe anybody would think any story approaches Brett Favre so far this year in football,” he said. ↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥“I talked extensively about him in Game 1; I talked about him in Game 2 and I will talk about him in Game 3,” Kornheiser said. “He is just one of a handful of compelling figures” in the NFL, he added, putting Favre on a short list with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. ↵⇥

↵↵That’s it: Tony Kornheiser is officially clueless. Either that or his No. 4 visors don’t allow him to see anything else happening in the NFL. He put Brady on his short-list of compelling NFL figures, but Kornheiser would have us believe the story of the league’s best player being knocked out for the season in Week 1 doesn’t approach Brett Favre. Neither does the debacle in Denver last Sunday. Or that incredible Monday nighter this week in Dallas (which Tony attended, but may or may not have actually witnessed) that was the most viewed cable broadcast ever, and featured the little incident with DeSean Jackson. Or anything else that’s happened through two weeks of football.↵↵In fact, Favre really has been a non-story since the season started. His debut as a Jet was sort of a big deal in Week 1, but beyond that, nothing of interest has really happened with him or the Jets. Clearly, Kornheiser is just totally out of touch. And if you need further evidence of that, consider this quote from the man himself: “There’s an adjustment to [being on MNF]. It’s taken a while. I’m getting better.” ↵
