Magic Cannons Save Giants, Bucs

While we wait with baited breath for Aaron Rodgers and Tony Romo to get together for some tiddlywinks this evening, let us not let some spectacular gun-slinging go forth without note. Eli Manning continued his national tour of awesome in, uh, the Meadowlands. In overtime against the plucky Bengals, Manning floated a handsome bomb to Amani Toomer along the sidelines, a great throw but a better catch. The play set up the game-winning FG. The march toward 19-0 continues.

↵At Solider Field, Brian Griese partied like he did in Two Thousand Never, firing off 67 attempts for more than 400 yards, two touchdowns, three INTs. A full day of work for that guy. He did engineer three vital drives in the fourth to turn a 10-point Bears lead into a Bucs win in OT.

↵J.T. Sullivan has his longball going, with 145 yards and 2 TDs in the first as S.F. mauls Detroit at the Stick. Jay Cutler isn’t throwing much (11 attempts in the first half), but he has two TDs to show. Drew Brees, in opposition, has almost 250 yards. Big boy Ben Roethlisberger is getting pounded into oblivion in Philadelphia though -- Jim Nantz theorizes it has been the toughest half of Big Ben’s career.↵
