Hanna (Storm) Confuses Flushing Meadows

â†µRoger Federer finished his semifinal win Saturday before Tropical â†µStorm Hanna hit, but Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray weren’t â†µso lucky. The U.S. Tennis Association tried to plan â†µproperly -- Nadal-Murray got moved up in a seemingly last-â†µminute decision, starting at 12:30 PM while Federer fought â†µNovak Djokovic across the way. Of course, CBS couldn’t â†µbroadcast two semifinals at the same time. So Nadal-â†µMurray’s on a tape delay of about an hour or so. (As such, â†µno spoilers here.)

â†µI do feel comfortable telling you the match didn’t start â†µearly enough: a rain delay has stopped things during the â†µthird set. It is expected to rain in NYC for, oh, about 16 â†µhours. So the Nadal-Murray match will conclude Sunday, â†µpushing back the men’s final. The women’s final between â†µSerena Williams and Jelena Jankovic, scheduled for tonight, â†µhas been pushed to 9 PM EST Sunday. There’s no official â†µword on when the men’s final will be, but Monday afternoon â†µseems like a fair guess.

â†µMeanwhile though, the impromptu start of Nadal’s match had â†µspectators in Flushing Meadows â†µscrambling, reports Kathleen McElroy of the New â†µYork Times. Global warming, man: killing polar bears, â†µconfusing tennis fans. When will the carnage end?!â†µ
