Breaking: Brett Favre Still Just a Kid Out There

↵With one fell swoop, all those emotions we feel for the story of Brett Favre rushed back into our lives. On New York’s second series, Favre hit Jerricho Cotchery on a stunning play-action pass for a 56-yard TD. Brett has a joy for the game you just don’t see anymore. You know he’d rather be in Miami on Sunday than anywhere else in the world. He’s really still just a kid out there. (And if you didn’t see it: HOW DARE YOU miss the first TD pass of the greatest quarterback in Jets history? You should be ashamed of yourself.)
↵
↵New York’s kicker (Ted Nugent’s godson Mike) injured his knee on his first FG attempt. It was bad enough to force Eric Mangini to keep his QB on the field on a 4th and 13 from the 21 in the second quarter. Favre felt pressure in the pocket, broke a tackle, switched hands to deke a ‘Fin, got two cheerleaders pregnant due to his overwhelming aura of masculinity and eventually flung it toward the goal line off his back leg -- basically a punt. Rookie Chansi Stuckey caught it at the 1 and fell into the end zone. Favre is a football God, and if you don’t think so you don’t have a beating heart.
↵
↵Miami’s first half has been uneven. Early, Chad Pennington decided to give a big middle finger to all the haters who poke fun at his weak arm by overthrowing his receivers on every pass. He calmed into his normal, noodle-y routine eventually though and hit Anthony Fasano on an appropriate five-yard TD pass. Baby steps, Chad.
↵
↵Despite Cris Carter’s pre-game assurances, Ricky Williams has not taken over the game. Splitting carries with Ronnie Brown, Ricky has 19 yards on six rushes as of this post.↵
