After Texas’ Fiesta Bowl win over Ohio State, Mack Brown vowed to vote his Horns #1 in the final USA Today coaches poll, no matter what Florida and Oklahoma did in Miami. But the coaches poll came out Friday and #3 Texas had zero first-place votes. ‘Splain yourself, Mack (through a coach-to-mortal translator from the UT SID office):↵↵⇥Texas spokesman John Bianco said Brown understood that his vote would be discarded by the American Football Coaches Association if he didn’t vote for the winner of the national title game. ... Afraid that his vote wouldn’t count and then hurt his team, Brown voted Florida No. 1. But in the final voting, Utah received a first-place vote from its coach Kyle Whittingham.↵↵TSB has procured a copy of Mack’s ballot, which suggests Brown voted for Florida only begrudgingly.
