Eagles Skate Away With Win

Donovan McNabb may be completely loony by this point, but his team’s in NFC Championship next week. McNabb came alive on his final drive in the first half and never looked back, as the Eagles rolled to a 23-11 win. Why is McNabb loony? With the game in hand and less than two minutes left, a McNabb scamper ended up deep into the Giants sideline. The QB, before heading back to the field, picked up New York’s phone to the booth. (No one appeared to be on the other line.) Joe Buck wasn’t disgusted, but Troy Aikman did announce that at times he has no idea what goes through McNabb’s head.

↵Eli Manning did nothing goofy, avoiding the ire of Aikman on those grounds. But on the field, Eli stunk. He floated pass after pass over and away from his receivers, tallying two interceptions and running possibly the worst QB sneak in the history of organized sport on a critical 4th-and-inches late. Manning’s performance was actually cringe-worthy; if not for the improbable Super Bowl win last season, the New York Post might have actually set Eli on fire for Monday’s editions.
↵
↵Kudos to the brilliant (for a day) Philadelphia defense. The pressure on Manning wasn’t anything worth noting, but the secondary played stellar, the front seven only gave up one rush of any significant length, and the whole unit played tremendous when N.Y. threatened. The resurrected Kurt Warner and his friend Larry Fitzgerald await. (Yeah, the Arizona Cardinals are hosting the NFC Championship. !!!)↵
