Kaka Set to Become the 100 Million Euro Man

According to many reports, Manchester City is on the verge of signing Brazilian superstar Kaka in a transfer from his current club, AC Milan. ↵↵The deal is rumored to be worth 100 million euros, which would make it the largest sum ever paid in a football transfer. In fact, it would more than double the current largest transfer fee, the 47 million that Real Madrid paid Juventus for the services of Zinedine Zidane in 2002.↵
↵↵Consider it like the Mets signing K-Rod after the Yankees’ nabbed Sabbathia. While Kaka is one strong candidate for the title of The Best Footballer in the World, another aspirant to that throne, Cristiano Ronaldo, plays for Man City’s infinitely more successful crosstown rival, Manchester United. Currently in the Premier League standings, Man U. is second only to mighty Liverpool, while Man City is in 15th place and within shouting distance of the bottom three, points-wise.↵
↵↵The addition of Kaka would no doubt go a long way towards staving off any thought of relegation for the Citizens. This outlandish move is made possible for Man City by the extensive resources of its new owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is estimated to be worth upwards of 15 billy or so (and that’s euros, son). ↵
↵↵Which does make one wonder given the recent news that MLB owners are clamoring for a salary cap: Aren’t there any freaky-rich sheiks out there interested in buying the Pittsburgh Pirates? ↵
