Mark Cuban Fined, But Gets the Last Word

↵Shoals briefly discussed the odd J.R. Smith-Mark Cuban incident Friday, calling it embarrassing for the Mavs owner. It also became costly, as the league fined Cuban $25,000 for coming onto the court and yapping at the Nugget, who apparently sent an elbow into Antoine Wright’s dome just before halftime Tuesday.
↵
↵Cuban hilariously promised Smith he’d be suspended for the elbow once Mark sent the tape to the league office; instead, that tape showed Cuban violating one of David Stern’s arbitrary rules about conduct.
↵
↵So of course Cuban used his blog to get the last word:↵↵⇥The NBA tells me a tech should have been called on you for throwing the elbow and that I should pay a 25k dollar fine because owners aren’t supposed to get mad. Ever.
↵⇥
↵⇥In the spirit of the joy of my getting fined and your not getting the tech, have the Nuggets PR folks contact the Mavs PR folks and I will donate 25k to the charity of your choice. Unless of course your coach thinks that the wrong thing to do, or the NBA says I can’t because it would be a violation of a rule. In which case, I will find a charity that I think you would like and make the donation in your name.↵↵And then he signs off with a “bff, m.” No one does passive-aggressive like Mark Cuban. It’s real wonder baseball’s staid fraternity didn’t want to admit him.↵
