Once Again, Eagles Avoid the Reaper

↵The dirt’s been piled five feet high on Philadelphia’s grave once before, in Week 17, when the Eagles needed a series of highly unlikely events to leave them a chance to play themselves into the postseason. The dominoes fell, and Philly ended up in the NFC Championship.

↵In the first half, Arizona simply destroyed the Eagles. The Cardinals defense looked tough as cyborg skin, the aerial assault of Arizona couldn’t be slowed by a Panzer. The Eagles were back under five feet of dirt. But all that has changed in the second half: the Philly defense has blitzed the pants off Kurt Warner (not pretty), Donovan McNabb burst into flames, Larry Fitzgerald hasn’t touched the ball ... and Philadelphia has taken a 25-24 fourth quarter lead on a 62-yard TD catch from juggling Desean Jackson.

↵Someone needs to open the dome back up and let some oxygen in, because that touchdown sucked all the air out of the stadium. What an astounding pendulum swing the second half has been.↵
