Holy Crap, the Cardinals Are In the Super Bowl

↵Everyone’s had a week to prepare themselves, to warm up the phrase “the Arizona Cardinals are headed to the Super Bowl.” But it’s still not clicking. This does not make sense. World Series champion Chicago Cubs, NBA world champion Los Angeles Clippers, Super Bowl-bound Arizona Cardinals. Nope. It’s just not right. But whatever, it’s happening: the Arizona Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl. Miracles happen. Destitute fans everywhere have hope again.
↵
↵Like a bunch of men unwilling to say good night, the Cardinals stormed back after DeSean Jackson’s killer TD on a long march toward victory. Kurt Warner hit Larry Fitzgerald a few times on a steady-as-they-go eight-minute drive that ended with a tough, tough TD run from Tim Hightower. The playcalling seemed a bit conservative -- for many of the plays Fitzgerald was the only wideout on the field; that may have been the reason Fox cameras caught Anquan Boldin screaming at offensive coordinator Todd Haley. But it paid off: Warner picked apart Philly’s boisterous blitz attack, Hightower avoided disaster on a fourth down near midfield and pounded it when needed. The score and two-point conversion gave ‘Zona a seven-point lead with three minutes to go, and the Eagles couldn’t get down the field.
↵
↵I will say that Arizona needs to work on its celebrations a little bit. Ken Whisenhunt does not wear a XXXXXXL t-shirt, Matt Leinart should never be the most visible Cardinal on stage, and Warner needs to quit watching the grace scene from Talladega Nights during halftime. His ode to Jesus was straight out of Ricky Bobby’s script.
↵
↵Congratulations, Arizona. Don’t let any jerkward Steelers or Ravens fans tell you that you don’t belong in the Big Game.↵
