Michael Redd’s Season Ends

Bucks star scorer Michael Redd landed wrong on a drive to the rim last night against Sacramento. According to the Racine Journal-Times, this morning’s MRI revealed a torn ACL and MCL, and Redd is reportedly done for the season.

↵You don’t need me to tell you it’s a major blow to the Bucks, who have played well this season under Scott Skiles. The defense has been surprisingly good considering the roster, and Redd has been a monster off the dribble in addition to flexing his typical accurate trigger from deep. Richard Jefferson and Charlie Villanueva are good scorers, but the cats behind Redd on the depth chart aren’t nearly as potent. Charlie Bell isn’t exactly a force of nature.

↵But this also messes up the trade market. Maybe Redd had been available pre-injury, maybe he wasn’t. But the mere idea he could be had certainly kept the mill moving. Now teams seeking that killer wing scorer will really only be looking at Vince Carter; once he moves, we either move to low-tier options or the truly unlikely. BORING.
