TSB in Tampa: What to Expect from the 813

Chris Mottram is on the loose in Tampa this week. He'll be posting about various goodness and misadventures here on no particular schedule.

↵Greetings, friends, from downtown Tampa, Florida, site of Super Bowl 43 and my home for the next six days. (Yes, you calculated that correctly -- I won’t actually be here for the game itself. Sporting News has real reporters for that.) The extent of my experience thus far has been the airport (first semi-famous person sighting: Wake Forest football coach Jim Grobe at baggage claim!), the shuttle from said airport, and the few blocks immediately surrounding my hotel. Needless to say, there isn’t much to report from Tampa ... yet. ↵

↵↵I did, however, want to let the world know that a) I’m here ... alone, which means don’t expect any stalker stuff this time around (at least not any caught on camera); b) what I’ll be doing this week. My current plans include: ↵

↵↵-- Finding many Steelers fans; mocking them. ↵

↵↵-- Finding a Cardinals fan; proving their existence … outside of Will Leitch. ↵

↵

↵-- Bringing a (hopefully) unique perspective from tomorrow’s Media Day, which won’t include me speaking to any athletes or conducting what you may consider “reporting.” ↵

↵↵-- Attending tomorrow night’s Media Party. Alone. This is mostly to scientifically evaluate whether attending a “Salsa, Soul and Rock n’ Roll” media party solo is, in fact, the most depressing activity in which one can engage. The results will be blogged about. ↵

↵↵-- Going to the GQ/Gentleman Jack/Yardbarker party and EA Madden Bowl in the same night -- Thursday. Nothing says “sports blogger” like “GQ” and a party at a place called The Honey Pot Nightclub. Hopefully the Jack is free. ↵

↵↵So, yeah, that’s about it for now. Other than that, I’m flying by the seat of my pants here. But I’m okay with that. Plans are for The Man, man. I’m going spontaneous, which will lead me to either something wildly entertaining, or something incredibly boring -- like the NFL Experience. ↵

↵↵Other Super Bowl programming notes: Next Sunday, TSB’s weekend connoisseur Tom Ziller will be liveblogging the game, starting around 3PM ET to give him ample opportunity to mock the television pregame coverage. And over at FirstCuts, Spencer Hall will be liveblogging about the commercials. ↵
