Gus Frerotte Could Have Beat the Eagles

... according to Gus Frerotte, at least. Michael Silver of Yahoo! talked to Frerotte after Philadelphia bounced Tarvaris Jackson-led Minnesota from the playoffs Sunday. ↵↵⇥“I just don’t know what to think right now,” [Frerotte] said Sunday night. “It was a very frustrating experience, because I felt like I should’ve been the one playing. That might sound selfish, but I think I would’ve given us the best chance to win.”↵↵It might sound selfish, but it also sounds correct. Frerotte did well at Minnesota’s reins after Brad Childress benched Jackson in September. And then Frerotte lost his job to injury, never getting a whiff once healthy. Everyone guessed Philadelphia’s exotic blitz schemes would befuddle the easily befuddled Jackson, and if nothing else Frerotte has seen everything.
↵
↵The real poignancy of Frerotte’s statement is that Frerotte has played behind some pretty bad QBs through his career. But Jackson’s the one who is bad enough to badmouth on the way out. Heath Shuler, John Friesz, Brian Griese, Charlie Batch, Jon Kitna -- not exactly a set of Steve Youngs or Joe Montanas. Chin down, Tarvaris. Chin way down.↵
