Colts DE Dwight Freeney might not miss as much time as initially reported – at least according to him. From Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star:
Freeney Says He Is ‘Fast Healer’
How long might the injury keep him out? Any chance he could be available for Sunday’s game at Lucas Oil Stadium against Seattle?
“It’s hard (to know),” Freeney said. “I’ve got my timeline and the docs got their timeline. They have me out for a few (games).
“I think I’m a fast healer, but I can’t be crazy, either. It’s not over yet. I’m not saying I’m not going to be out there (Sunday), but it might be a minor setback.”
A likely scenario is for Freeney to be out this week, iffy for the Oct. 11 trip to Tennessee, use the ensuing bye week to fully heal and return for the Oct. 25 game at St. Louis.
This is most likely little more than bluster. With the Colts sitting pretty at 3-0, two games ahead of the Jaguars and Texans and three games ahead of the Titans, there is no reason to rush Freeney back and risk a setback. Don’t count on him returning before the team’s October 25th matchup against the Rams.
