After three quarters of sluggish play from America’s Team presumably had the A-list Fox broadcast team wondering why, exactly, they were in Kansas City, the Dallas Cowboys are finally showing some signs of life, tying the game at 13-13. Which prompted Joe Buck to rejoice, “The Dallas Cowboys have come alive!”
The Fading Glamour of the Cowboys
↵We’ve been waiting for this all year, of course. The Cowboys are supposed to be sexy, and high-octane. The team that’s slogging it out in Kansas City is not what anyone expected of the ’09 Cowboys. But maybe it should have been.
↵Without Terrell Owens, the team’s identity has shifted, and they’ll be playing a lot of close, ugly games. The team’s peripheral aspects are all still on par with what you’d expect of one of the most exciting franchises in sports: ornate stadium, big-name quarterback, a full slate of national television appearances… But look at today’s game in Kansas City against the winless Chiefs: the team on the field just doesn’t match up.
