Anthony Kim: Patron Golfer of Functional Alcoholics Everywhere

I liked him already, but stuff like this from Robert Allenby endears the young Mr. Kim to me all the more:

↵↵“Maybe we should all take the theory of Anthony Kim,” Allenby said. “Get home at 4 o’clock (in the morning) and then go shoot 6 under.”

↵Asked if his comments were on the record, Allenby said, “I don’t care. Ask his playing partners. Ask his team. He is the loosest cannon in that team.”

↵Allenby went on to call the 24-year-old Kim golf’s “current John Daly.”

↵↵Again, just to hammer this point home, but Anthony Kim shot a 6-under on Sunday. That’s not John Daly-level functional alcoholism. John Daly would have shot 84. Kim’s round — seriously, 6-under! — shares more in common with Winston Churchill.

↵Anthony was reached for comment, likely while eating a Denny’s Grand Slam breakfast:

↵↵“If Robert had that to say,” Kim said, “he may need to go practice a little bit more.”

↵↵In other words: Who’s Robert Allenby again? That dude I played with Sunday morning? Oh. Right. Whatever. My head hurts, and now please leave me alone. Anyone have Bloody Mary mix?
