Saturday night was a rough one for Tate Forcier. The Michigan quarterback was just 8-for-19 for 94 yards before leaving the game -- a game the Wolverines eventually lost, 30-28 -- with a slight concussion. If Forcier is medically cleared on Wednesday to play this week, then he will start Saturday against powerhouse Delaware State, Coach Rich Rodriguez said Monday, adding, "I don't think it was a severe one, but he still has a headache today."
Forcier’s Shoulder May Be Worse Than Michigan Is Letting On
But that’s not Forcier’s only injury.
The shoulder he hurt against Indiana is still bothering him, and while RichRod says everything’s-just-fine-nothing-to-see-here (“I don’t think it’s very limiting at all ... I didn’t see him complaining at all about the shoulder...”), Forcier’s brother, Jason, is telling another story.
"His shoulder is more injured than I think the public realizes. It's the same thing (Oklahoma quarterback) Sam Bradford did. Maybe not as severe, but an AC joint is an AC joint. Once you injure it, it's hurt for the rest of the year."
Bradford sprained the AC joint in his throwing shoulder in the Sooners' season opener on Sept. 5 and did not return until this past Saturday.
"(Tate)'s being tough," Jason said. "But he's playing against guys that are over three times his size."
His brother has told Tate to “‘be smart’ when it comes to dealing with his shoulder injury.” I’m thinking that playing this weekend, against a Division I-AA team with a 1-3 record, would fall under the “not smart” category.
