Every day seems to bring about a new reason for the Redskins to fire head coach Jim Zorn. Either he’s admitting he doesn’t know the fair catch rule, or news breaks that Jon Gruden is all set to takeover in D.C., or John Riggins is calling him out whilst sitting atop a pile of recently chopped wood. Well the Redskins players have finally had enough, and they’re just not going to take it anymore.
Redskins Players: ‘Please Stop Asking Us About Zorn’
↵They want the team’s management to stand-up, and confidently declare that Zorn is there to stay. Not because the players think he’s a good coach, mind you, but just because they’re so sick of answering all those questions about him.
↵↵If the team doesn’t intend to fire Zorn, the players said, the coach should be given a public vote of confidence so that players won’t have to bear the responsibility each week of responding to speculation about their embattled coach. [...]
↵“I wish someone upstairs would just say he’s going to be our coach for the season,” said one of the players. “That way, we don’t have to answer any more questions about it and everybody knows we’re in this boat together.”
↵↵Translation: “We’re not very good at football as it is, and all these questions are just really distracting. Can someone please just say Zorn is captaining this sinking ship so the reporters will leave us alone?”
