One Team’s Gaines Is Another Team’s Gaines
↵This is the latest example of the fallout from the famous Gaines Rule that was enacted by the NFL in 1999, at the peak of anti-Chris Gaines hysteria: each team in the NFL is only allowed to have one player named Gaines. This rule has not been strictly enforced since, but now that Garth Brooks is coming out of retirement, this may be a sign that the climate of paranoia has been sparked anew.
