Game Wrap: Brady’s Record Day Leads Pats to 59-0 Win

Foxboro, MA — Tom Brady tied an NFL record with five touchdown passes in the second quarter as the New England Patriots set several franchise records in a 59-0 rout of the winless Tennessee Titans in snowy conditions at Gillette Stadium.

Brady finished the game 29-for-34 with 380 yards and six touchdowns. His five touchdowns passes in the second quarter tied a record set in 1950 and his six TD tosses tied his own franchise mark.

The margin of victory was the largest in the NFL since 1976.

Randy Moss finished the game with eight catches for 129 yards and three scores while Wes Welker had 10 catches for 150 yards and two TDs for the Patriots (4-2), who were coming off a 20-17 loss in Denver last week.

Kevin Faulk caught the other touchdown while Laurence Maroney had 16 carries for 123 yards and a score for New England, which has won its last four games against Tennessee.

New England set franchise marks in points scored, yards (619) and margin of victory. The previous record for points was 56, which the team did against Buffalo on November 18, 2007 and the New York Jets on September 9, 1979. The previous yardage record was 597 and margin of victory was 53, both of which were against the Jets on the aforementioned date.

Kerry Collins had the worst game of his career as he was 2-for-12 for minus- seven yards with an interception and a fumble lost for the Titans (0-6), who have lost their first six games of the season for the first time since 1984, when the then Houston Oilers lost their first 10 games.

Chris Johnson was the only bright spot on offense for Tennessee as he had 128 yards on 17 carries. The Titans have lost seven straight going back to last season and six straight on the road.
