Atlanta Thrashers Continue to Honor Memory of Dan Snyder

After the Thrashers beat the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night, they traveled two hours by bus to Elmira, Ontario to hold an NHL practice at Dan Snyder Memorial Arena. Dan Snyder played for the Thrashers from 2000-2003 until he was tragically killed in an auto accident.

↵The Dan Snyder Memorial Fund helped construct an ice rink in Snyder’s hometown of Elmira and the Thrashers wanted to honor the arena in the only way they could, by practicing in it.

↵↵Veteran Slava Kozlov, one of two current Thrashers—along with Ilya Kovalchuk—at practice Sunday who played with Snyder, left the ice impressed with the Elmira crowd.

↵“First time I practiced in front of so many people,” Kozlov said. “It’s a great, great atmosphere.”

↵Kozlov said it was an important trip for the franchise because it gave the players who knew Dan an opportunity to share their memories of him with the new Thrashers.

↵“We’re always going to remember Dan,” Kozlov said.

↵↵Classy move by a classy organization.
