It could be the combination of a nontraditional matchup and a general lack of enthusiasm surrounding the program, or perhaps just random luck, or maybe even a silent protest by a fanbase allergic to the color purple, but for whatever reason Notre Dame is facing the possibility of the first non-sellout game since 1973.
Notre Dame Looking at First Non-Sellout Since 1973
↵Don’t blame ND, though: Washington returned a fair number of its tickets to ND when they went unsold by Washington fans, and thus the sudden threat of a non-sellout. Somehow this is all Ty Wilingham’s fault, or at least that is what both Washington and Notre Dame fans can say after the one-time Stanford coach managed to drive both programs into the ground. Talent like that can’t be denied regardless of geography.
↵ND QB Jimmy Clausen will play with a nasty case of turf toe, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, a condition Clausen describes as “nagging” and unlikely to clear up anytime soon. His hair, however, is a lustrous spiked blond, and expects to be only slightly frizzy and camera-ready for Saturday’s game versus the Huskies.
↵UPDATE: Crisis averted -- the game has sold out.
