K.C. Joyner Highlights WR/TE Pickups

ESPN’s “Football Scientist” K.C. Joyner is back with his weekly slate of pass catchers to pluck up from the waiver wire, among them one of last year’s surprise breakout players, and a new face up north (Insider access required):

[Steve] Breaston started out the year with a goose egg against the 49ers but since then he has racked up 23 receptions for 320 yards and a touchdown. Looking at it from another angle, he has four more points in standard scoring leagues this year than his highly touted Cardinals teammate, Anquan Boldin. His future schedule also looks quite favorable, with matchups against the Giants, Panthers, Seahawks, Rams (twice), Titans and Lions. Breaston should also top the list of anyone already looking ahead to the fantasy playoffs, as the game against the Lions and one of the Rams contests come in Weeks 15 and 16.

With Boldin banged up with a gimpy ankle, look for Breaston to receive even more looks going forward. The other (and much more widely available) receiver? How about Brett Favre’s new go-to wideout…Sidney Rice:

Quick, name the Vikings receiver with the most fantasy points. The knee-jerk response to this question would be Bernard Berrian, but Rice has scored more points in the past three weeks (36) than Berrian has all season (32). The downside to Rice is that the Vikes are traveling to Pittsburgh and Green Bay the next two weeks and then have a bye, but matchups against Detroit and Seattle in Weeks 10 and 11 are worth riding out the potential low-point storm.
