↵From the TV screengrab cam we have this illustrative shot of Torii Hunter’s third-inning steal on A.J. Burnett. Hunter left extremely early, and Burnett could easily have wheeled around and thrown him out, except, as you’ll notice, Burnett had no clue what was going on. Mark Teixeira saw. Jorge Posada saw. You and I saw. The only one who didn’t see was the one man who could have made a difference with his knowledge.
There’s a meaningful allegory in there somewhere. I’m just not sure where.
