Former Lottery Pick Joe Alexander Tears Hamstring, Out Indefinitely

The Milwaukee Bucks' Joe Alexander reportedly has a partially torn hamstring and could be out several weeks for the Bucks. Up to this point, Alexander's led a life with many twists and turns. Born in Taiwan, he moved to Silver Spring, MD. when he was two years old, and then, at eight years old, he went back to the Far East, bouncing around from Hong Kong to China until he was 17. His wildly exotic path then led him to West Virginia, of all places, where he starred during his junior season, playing so well down the stretch for Bob Huggins' Mountaineers that he worked his way into becoming to an improable top 10 pick.

Since arriving in the NBA, though, most of the plot twists in Alexander’s career path have been setbacks. He played in only 59 games last season, and averaged just 4.9 points in what was a phenomenally disappointing rookie campaign. And now, this season, a hamstring injury has kept him sidelined for virtually the entire Milwaukee training camp. And according to Gary Woefell of the Milwaukee Journal-Times, he just got some more bad news:

Alexander recently got a second opinion from a doctor on the Green Packers medical team and the news wasn’t enouraging. Bucks officials had said Alexander was sidelined with a strained hamstring, although it is now believed the hamstring is at least partially torn. Bucks officials wouldn’t comment on Alexander’s status Thursday morning, but were expected to give an update later in the day.

We’ll have more as it emerges from Milwaukee, but for now, it sounds like this former top 10 pick will have to deal with yet another setback in Milwaukee.
