Former Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt, who passed away nearly three years ago, was one of the very most influential and beloved people in the history of Kansas City. Appropriately, the state of Missouri is honoring Hunt by naming a stretch of highway after him. From our own Arrowhead Pride:
Highway You’ll Never Drive On Named After Man You’ll Never Meet
↵↵A bill has passed in Missouri to re-name part of 435 highway the “Lamar Hunt Memorial Highway”. [...] We have a George Brett Highway and Emanuel Cleaver Blvd so it’s about time one of the most influential members of the community is honored.
↵↵Absolutely. However, this is sort of a slight against Dennis I-435, after whom I-435 was originally named. Dennis I-435 played several years for the Kansas City Athletics, and was most famous for having pitched seven consecutive no-hitters, then retiring to save kittens from trees and win the War in Greenland with only a truncheon and a friendly disposition. How short our memories are. How quickly we forget!
