Owing much to the efforts of Terrence Cody, Alabama survived this afternoon, winning 12-10 at home against Tennessee. The SEC: where games can go from mind-numbing to heart-stopping in a matter of 30 seconds. Good lord.
Terrence Cody Will Haunt Your Dreams
↵The Crimson Tide led for most of the game, and when Terrence Cody--who, for obvious reasons, is nicknamed “Mount” Cody--blocked Daniel Lincoln’s field goal that would have made it a 3-point game, the game looked all but over. Alabama connected on a field from there to make it a two-score game, and millions of fans across the country switched over to watch Miami-Clemson.
↵Then, in an instant, Tennessee had life, as Bama’s Mark Ingram fumbled for the first time in his career, Tennessee took over, and a few plays later, scored on an 11-yard touchdown from Johnathan Crompton to Gerald Jones. Then, after recovering the onside kick, Luke Stocker made a marvelous catch down the middle of the field, and just like that, the Vols were in field goal range, and the number one team was on the verge of an upset.
↵(Enter MT. CODY, brace for earth tremors)
↵
↵Seeing as Tennessee had the nerve to fight back after he’d crushed their hopes earlier, apparently Mt. Cody needed to remind Lane Kiffin who’s boss in Tuscaloosa. On cue, he made a mockery of the Tennessee offensive line, hurdled into the backfield, and blocked his second field goal of the game as time expired. This time, the game was really over, restoring order after the frenzied final minutes.
↵In the end, ‘Bama and Mt. Cody are still on top.
