BREAKING: Purple Jesus Can Fail

I wasn’t sure this was possible, and frankly, I’m still not sure I believe what I’m seeing. But if the Fox Broadcast is to be trusted, then it is so: Adrian Peterson, also known as Purple Jesus, also known as a genuine freak of nature and easily the NFL’s best the running back, is getting stonewalled in Pittsburgh this afternoon.

↵

Peterson entered the game this afternoon leading the NFL in rushing and iconic YouTube clips, but so far he’s been stifled, gaining just 34 yards on 14 carries. It’s gotten so bad that the Vikings had first-and-goal at the Pittsburgh 1, and after Peterson failed on first down, Minnesota gave up, passing twice before eventually settling for a field goal.

↵Dire straits for Brad Childress and company, as the undefeated Vikings are losing in the fourth quarter. But even worse, I… I just don’t know what to believe anymore.
