Larry Johnson’s future with the Kansas City Chiefs isn’t clear right now. After a meltdown of Larry Johnson proportions the Chiefs have decided to bar him from practice and all team activities.
Larry Johnson Barred From Team Activities
His meltdown occurred after losing to division rival San Diego. He voiced his opinion on his coach from his Twitter account and it all went downhill from there.
According to multiple reports, Johnson -- in telling reporters to get away from him -- used a slur that refers to gays. He used the same slur on his Twitter feed. He has also posted demeaning remarks about Coach Haley.
This is yet another in a long list of problems initiated by Johnson.
Last year, then-Chiefs Coach Herman Edwards benched Johnson for three games for an unspecified violation of team rules. Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended him for the fourth game for violating the league’s player conduct policy in connection with incidents involving two women in bars.
So what does this mean to fantasy GM’s? Johnson has been averaging a measly 2.7 yards per carry this season and hasn’t been helping you much, but he has been getting opportunities. There is already speculation that this is just the first step in severing ties completely with Johnson. No matter what happens we will start to see a lot more of Jamaal Charles. He has looked better than LJ and doesn’t need interior blocking as much as LJ to succeed. He is a good pickup. He still plays for the Chiefs and won’t set the world on fire, but he has more upside than Johnson at this point and if the Chiefs cut ties with Johnson he will be the sole running back.
